Poland fulfills $12bn Kruk programme for AH-64E Apache helicopters

The US State Department has at last approved a Foreign Military Sale to furnish Poland’s Armed Forces with 96 AH-64E Apache helicopters. The US and Poland originally conceived the purchase in September last year.

The deal marks the completion of Poland’s ‘Kruk’ programme to select and procure a modern attack helicopter fleet. With the AH-64E in production until at least 2028, Boeing anticipates the Apache serving the US Army and its partner nations into the 2060s.

BAE Systems to buy Ball Aerospace for $5.6bn

UK defence prime BAE Systems will purchase the Ball Corporation’s aerospace division for $5.6bn in order to leverage the company’s space infrastructure solutions.

The Colorado-based company constructs aerospace systems that provide data exploitation solutions. According to GlobalData, Ball Corporation registered revenues of $3.56bn for Q2 2023, an increase of 2.2% over the previous quarter.

RTX lands $322.5m contract for anti-tank TOW missiles

Tucson-based RTX Land & Air Defense Systems has clinched a contract $322.5m to manufacture tube-launched, optically tracked, wireless-guided (TOW) 2B missiles for the US Army, with an estimated completion date of 30 September 2026.

With 22.0% of the North American missiles and missile defence systems market, RTX is projected to be the second largest shareholder in the region, according to GlobalData.

Canadian Surface Combatant project receives $463m boost

The Canadian Government will invest a further $463m (C$620m) in the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) project to accelerate construction of the Royal Canadian Navy of the 15 warships outlined in its National Shipbuilding Strategy.

As well as providing combat power at sea, the CSC ships, based on BAE’s Type 26 frigate, will fulfil a range of mission types including support of land operations, counter-piracy, embargo-operations, search and rescue, among others.
